4-H STATE HORSE RULES TO PREVAIL
AMOUNT OFFERED – $1800
- 4-H / FFA members are required to show their own animals. Youth can also lease an equine if they do not have their own animal. The animal must be designated as their project on the pre fair forms due to the 4-H office on May 1st.
- A certificate of negative E.I.A. (Coggins) Test conducted in this or the preceding calendar year along with proof of Rabies Vaccination must be submitted with entry blank.
- APPROVED PROTECTIVE HEAD GEAR IS MANDATORY. Equines may not be ridden inside thebarns, or on the Fair Grounds. All equines moving within the barn may walk only. All classes will assemble in the holding area and remain in the holding area until called. Youth member must show helmet sticker (ASTM or SE approved) must be present!! Helmet fit will be checked. All people must be in long pants and approved shoes when mounted on their animal, even outside of the show times.
- Class description and rule details are to be found in the “New York State 4-H Equine Show Rule Book” manual (as modified and amended) available in the 4-H Office, Belmont, NY, 14813. Novice and walk-trot divisions refer to rules for seat (hunt, saddle, or western) member is riding. Novice – 1st year exhibitor in Walk, Trot, Canter classes. Walk/Trot may not enter any class, which requires a canter or lope. Classes may be divided or combined,arranged, and posted at the discretion of the chairperson or judge.
- Awards: Ribbons awarded on the Danish system. Blue – $8, Red – $6, Yellow – $4. No Awards may be designated. No premium for off course in any class.
- Your stall card will be posted on the stall; number may be picked up at the horse show office.
