Trophies will be presented to the top senior and top junior individuals from Allegany County. Blue or red ribbons will be presented to top five and next top five places respectively.

Awards will be given to the 4-H club and to the top non-club-lone 4-H member judged best in Herdsmanship.

YOUTH DAIRY SHOW
Wednesday – following showmanship.
Limited to 4-H and FFA members – Awards: Blue-$12, Red-$10, Yellow-$8
Exhibitors may show both grade and registered cattle, but grade animals must be by proven sires or their sons and from high producing dams to be eligible. Grade animals must show clearly the characteristics of one breed. (No Crossbreds) Unworthy animals arriving at the grounds will be rejected. Milking shorthorn cattle are eligible to show using 600 numbers. Awards for group classes will be ribbons.
4-H and FFA Dairy Classes
Start all registered cattle class numbers with breed number.
(Ex- Jersey Junior Calf, 401; Holstein Senior Calf, 303)
List all Grade cattle with a “G” and the number of the class.

Class Number 28 – Production of Milk (actual production) 1 award of $10 open to all breeds
Class Number 29 – Production of Fat (actual production) 1 award of $10 open to all breeds Best udder in
milk – cows compete in their age class for each breed – 1 award of $5.
NOTE: Bred by exhibitor (purebreds only) these classes are open to the highest placing blue ribbonanimals in each purebred class, that are bred and owned by the exhibitor.
NOTE: All group classes will be run by breed. Official records must be brought to ring at beginning of Dairy Show for production classes. Animals in each production class must have received blue ribbonsto be eligible.
Youth exhibitors are allowed to exhibit 2 animals per class. Youth members are expected to fit and arerequired to show their own animals in all classes except when having 2 animals in one class. The additional animals must be shown by another 4-H or FFA member.
Judging of Youth Dairy Cattle will follow the group award system. The exhibitor of an animal or herdmust own all animals exhibited. (Animals shown under the approved “Lease” program are eligible) All animals entering in the group and special classes must be shown in the regular manner in the individual classes.
YOUTH DAIRY SHOWMANSHIP CONTEST

The judge will consider the ability of the club members to present the animal, as well as the fitting done on their own animal. These classes may be divided at the discretion of the judge. Participation in showmanship is mandatory for 4-H and FFA members. 4-Hers and FFA members will qualify for the Master Showman Contest in their respective classes. No consideration will be given for having previously won the Master Showman Contest.
Scoring:
Appearance of animal 40 pts.
Appearance of exhibitor 10 pts.
Presenting animal in ring 50 pts.
Awards: Blue-$12, Red-$10, Yellow-$8. White shirts and trousers will not be required but will improve the appearance of the showman and help increase his score. No Club or Farm name shall appear on clothing. All contestants must be a regularly enrolled 4-H and/or FFA member with a dairyproject animal.
- Novice-has not shown in a dairy show before, and is under 14 yrs. as of Jan. 1
- Junior Showman – 9 to 11 years as of Jan. 1
- Intermediate Showman – 12 to 14 yrs. as of Jan. 1
- Senior Showman – 15 yrs. and over as of Jan.1
LOCAL 4-H CLUB AND FFA CHAPTER EXHIBIT – 901
To aid leaders in assembling a good dairy exhibit, and to encourage more members to exhibit, awards will be made on the group system to clubs exhibiting five or more animals owned or leased by members of the club. Judging is to take place at the end of the youth show.
No one member is to own or lease more than two animals in this group. Leaders should check eligibility. Groups will be judged on fitting, general appearance of exhibit, type and uniformity. Previous entry not required. Awards: excellent-$20, Good-$15, Worthy-$10.
